Conference on Issues of Anti-discrimination will kick off in Yerevan
Yerevan, Armenia: On November 11, 2014 from 09:30 to 18:00 a conference on the issues of anti-discrimination will take place in the Best Western Congress Hotel’s Ball Room, Yerevan. The conference is organized by Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Netherlands.
Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Mr. Hovhannes Manukyan, a Chargé d'affairs of the Embassy of Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia and Armenia Ms. Floor Nuiten-Elzinga and the Head of EPF Mr. Gevorg Ter-Gabrielyan will deliver welcoming remarks. Invited experts from Moldova and Georgia, countries that recently adopted anti-discrimination bills, will introduce the laws and experience of non-discrimination, while representatives of Armenian civil society will focus on discrimination cases based on various grounds such as disability, gender and religion in Armenia. The purpose of the Conference is to discuss the issues of discrimination and intolerance both from legal and societal points of view as well as to suggest effective mechanisms of prevention of all forms of discrimination.
Since 2012 with support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, EPF is implementing projects aimed at the adoption of anti-discrimination legislation and promotion of religious tolerance in Armenia. As part of this strategy, EPF conducted several area specific studies, public awareness raising campaigns, produced documentary films and talk-shows, as well as organized several workshops, discussions, and seminars in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia.
