Lusine Avagyan
Lusine Avagyan joined the Foundation in 2017 as a Human Rights/Cross Border Program Associate. In the past 7 years she has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at promoting and protecting human rights, strengthening rule of law and developing civil society in Armenia.
Lusine acted as a senior project manager at Public Journalism Club under the “Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalization Process” Programme funded by the European Union. She also worked at the Office of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia as an International Cooperation Officer during 2014-2016, serving as a liaison for diplomatic missions and international organizations in Armenia. Prior to that, Lusine was the coordinator of the “Citizen” project, a local initiative aimed at enhancing civic education curriculum and preparing a new generation of citizens committed to civic participation, which was funded by the U.S. Democracy Commission Small Grants Program and implemented by the Armenian Center for Democratic Education – CIVITAS.
Lusine completed full-time internship programs at the Office of the United Nations High Commissionaire for Refugees, as well as the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs and Political Science from Yerevan State University in 2010. Later she completed the Regional Master’s Program in Human Rights and Democratization at Yerevan State University, spending one academic semester at the Faculty of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. Lusine earned her second Master’s Degree in Law from American University of Armenia in 2015.
