Strong CSOs for Stronger Democracy

Strong CSOs for Stronger Democracy

Project Title: Strong CSOs for Stronger Democracy

Donor: Black Sea Trust/ German Marshall Fund

Timeframe: 09/2024 – 06/2025

Goal: The Project aims to enhance the viability, advocacy and operational potential of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Armenia through strengthening their institutional and management systems.

Major activities:

Addressing challenges faced by CSOs is essential for fostering resilience, democratic and participatory governance structure in Armenia. Recent political, social and economic upheavals have underscored the significant role of CSOs in advocating for human rights, promoting transparency and addressing community needs.

This initiative aims to equip CSOs with the necessary knowledge and systems to successfully run their programs, secure funding, and advocate for policy changes. Through capacity building sessions, individual consultations and assessments, the Project seeks to foster sustainable development and long-term growth for participating CSOs.

EPF will recruit 24 CSOs across Armenia, conduct a mapping session for assessing each CSO’s organizational development systems and needs, establishing a baseline for tailored capacity-building efforts.

The core training will take place through a two-day CSO Management School, covering governance, program management, financial sustainability, communication and advocacy skills.

After the CSO Management School, individual consultations will be offered to 10 CSOs by using the Capacity Enhancement Tool (CET). CET consultations will offer in-depth support to help CSOs update their management systems and receive targeted, actionable feedback for improvement.

To reinforce aforementioned activities, four online follow-up sessions will be held for 24 CSOs to delve deeper into governance, financial strategies, communication practices, and advocacy tools. The Project will conclude with an assessment of the participating organizations’ progress, evaluating the impact of the capacity-building and CET processes.
