POSITION TITLE:  IT Intern

DURATION OF THE CONTRACT: One year with possible extension

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:  To assist EPF’s IT Department with effectively implementing EPF’s activities. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In consultation with the IT Manager and other departments the IT specialist should be able to:

  • Setup, maintain, administer, develop and ensure reliable, secure, and uninterrupted operation of the whole office IT infrastructure, including office LAN, servers, user workstations, peripheral and telecommunications equipment, software applications, databases, website, etc.;
  • Maintain and administer office Internet access and e-mail;
  • Updating computer software, as well as upgrading hardware and systems as required.
  • Maintaining databases and ensuring system security,
  • Ensuring secure and stable server connectivity and testing network protocols.
  • Creating internet domains and optimizing intranet performance.
  • Testing data exchange and communication between computers, routers, modems, and servers.
  • Monitoring server capacity and performance to keep up with demand in online traffic.
  • Provide assistance and consultation to office staff on IT systems and software applications usage, troubleshoot staff computer hardware/software problems;
  • Maintain an updated list of email addresses for EPF staff;
  • Keeping track of technological advancements and trends in IT support.
  • Troubleshoot related technological issues and solve problems quickly to ensure the operations run smoothly.
  • Perform regular maintenance for our phone systems, computer systems, computers, printers, network systems, and any other technical equipment.
  • Administer new user accounts, work email addresses, and access levels to new employees to ensure they have everything they need to work efficiently.
  • Ensure our computers are backed up so all files are saved in case the system crashes.
  • Run security checks on all of our systems to ensure the EPF IT systems are protected from cybersecurity threats.
  • Participation in EPF staff and other meeting as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO and IT Manager.

IT Support Specialist Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or similar.
  • 1-2 years of experience as an IT support specialist.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks.
  • Basic knowledge of database maintenance and system security.
  • Ability to keep up with technical innovation and trends in IT support.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic English knowledge.
