Tatevik Gharibyan has been involved in human rights for more than 10 years. She has held both managerial and legal expert positions. She has worked for local non-profit organizations; Civil Society Institute NGO, Ani and Narod Foundation, Armenian Forests NGO. As a legal expert, she has an extensive experience in conducting analyzes of current practices in a number of fields involving human rights issues, vis-à-vis international best practice. She conducted research on early conditional release, early compassionate release, ill-treatment and torture of juveniles, factors contributing to offending and reoffending in Armenia, prepared alternative reports to UN Committees, developed policy recommendations, etc.

She has also provided legal consultancy to international organizations: Council of Europe, UNICEF, UNHCR, Penal Reform International. The topics included ill-treatment and impunity, women’s rights in prisons, treatment of juveniles in closed institutions, human rights protection in extradition cases, women’s rights in the army, human rights standards in the army.

She also served as a Legal Expert for RA National Assembly, Standing Committee for Defense and Security.

From 2015-2017 she was the Director of “United Voices for Children” regional project (including Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Albania) at Child Protection Network in Armenia.

She also worked for LegalLab CJSC as a Senior Lawyer providing consultancy on corporate law, intellectual property, contract and labor law.

She teaches a course on Anglo-American Legal System at the French University of Armenia.

She has BA from Yerevan State University, Romance Germanic Faculty/Translation Studies, MA from American University of Armenia, Comparative Legal Studies. She has also participated in a certificate program on International Affairs and Legal Studies at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston, USA.

Tatevik Gharibyan is a licensed attorney in Armenia, a member of the Chamber of Advocates.
